594 W Nelson Ave #220

The Walk started in 1995 and has been going strong ever since.
We join with local friends, neighbors, and family members to raise funds and walk together for a brighter future, rain or shine!
Join our community to spread awareness and support for local individuals with Down syndrome and their families while having the best time ever.
Every year we have raffle prizes to win, games and activities, food, and even an inflatable bounce house. After all, there’s nothing down about Down syndrome! Start a fundraising team, join an existing team, or register as an individual to help us spread joy and support.
The Alaska Walk for Down Syndrome (formerly the Buddy Walk) is our sole fundraiser of the year. Funds raised help us provide scholarships, hold social and educational events for our community, and provide educational materials to local clinics and therapy offices. Join us in person, in advocacy, and in embracing the differences that make our friends and family with Down syndrome shine so brightly!
CONGRATULATIONS!
For the 2025 AKDSN Walk for Down syndrome, we partnered with NDSS to award the individual/team who raised the most money with a spot in the 2025 NYC Times Square video for the NYC Buddy Walk in September 2025.
The winner was a team from our Fairbanks community!
Every year, NDSS reminds the world in a BIG way about the value that people with Down syndrome bring to their communities through a special video presentation on a jumbo screen, generously donated by Clear Channel, in the heart of Times Square.
500 individuals are chosen to appear in the Times Square Video, and NDSS tries to choose as many new faces as possible each year to highlight the diversity and beauty of our community. The hour-long presentation kicks off the NYC Buddy Walk® and is streamed live on Facebook.
Keep an eye out for 2027 photo submissions for your special someone!
